Meena ran a kindergarten for the families of the Rana Plaza survivors. 4 and 5 year-old children came to our programme centre between 10 am and 2 pm where they would receive preschooling from professional Kindergarten teachers. The children met, played and learned together in a relaxed environment that encouraged fun and creativity. Along with the classes, the children also received a cooked lunch, prepared by mothers who had survived the Rana Plaza tragedy.
Unfortunately, due to funding uncertainty, Meena e.V. has been forced to temporarily close the kindergarten. The orphans still come to the centre for private tutoring and cultural lessons twice a week, but the funding for the school has largely been exhausted. Meena e.V. hopes to reopen in the future.
