Sculpture workshop with Rana Plaza survivors and children: „What makes you happy“
Creating Art has been enjoyable and an enriching experience with a wonderful day in January 2019 creating sculptures at Dhamrai in a cooperative art workshop together with our partners from Dhaka and Denmark. 36 women from Meena worked with 6 artists from the Bangladesh Women Art Association - SHaKo, 4 art students from the Jahangirnagar University in Savar and two danish artists joining hands with Dhamrai Metal Crafts. The sculptures tells a story of what brings happiness to the women and demonstrate the tremendous development of the Meena women from the previous sculpture workshops.
The Bangladeshi women artists association - SHaKo volunteered with the Danish Art Educator Kirsten Fugl and bronze caster Peter Jensen working with the survivors of the Rana Plaza tragedy.
Each statue is moulded and casted by Sukanta and his artists with the traditional Lost Wax techniques. We are planning a fund-raising exhibition in April 2019 of those sculptures for our social programmes at Meena.
