On the 10th of February 2017, Meena held another Children's Recreation Day. The event was a huge success and was organised by teachers and project workers in Savar, along with the children themselves.
The children performed song and dance that they have been learning in their weekly culture classes at the Meena centre. Some of the former workers also gave solo performances. All the performances were scrutinised by a panel of judges with the winner being awarded books and learning material. But nobody went home empty handed. At the end of the day, all the children took home a small gift.
42 additional children from the Japanese initiative 'Ekmatra' children's home were also able to join us for the day. We were very happy to have them there and were also very pleased to see the brothers Akash and Rabbi there too. It was a special day for all those involved. Everyone contributed something with the preparations, and we decorated the entire Meena centre in the most fantastic colours.
This was by far the biggest event we have had yet at the programme house in Savar, with a total of 400 people taking part. And we were lucky on the day to have been treated to some wonderful Bangladeshi spring weather.
